A live performance with a difference is set to return to Central London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom, with the launch of an all-new ‘COVID-conscious’ production of The London Cabaret Club’s critically acclaimed show ‘London Never Dies’.
As one of the first live entertainment troupes to announce a return to the capital since the lockdown, The London Cabaret Club’s new display has been fully redesigned, with specially choreographed, socially distanced dance routines, costumes that help to prevent transmission and innovative circus acts developed to adhere to current safety guidelines.
The rework of the show was prompted by a strong desire to support a diverse cast and crew of dancers, singers and acrobats, lighting and sound technicians, costume designers and stagehands, who, like many, have been out of work during the pandemic with little to no support from any existing schemes.
The London Cabaret Club’s Artistic Director Doni Fierro says that “during this period, our team have been working tirelessly in order to create an experience that follows all Covid-19 live entertainment protocols, without diluting the spectacular impact that The London Cabaret Club is known for. By doing so, we have organically developed new ways to wow our audiences, while ensuring that they feel safe, secure and happy throughout the entire event.”
These new safety measures were assisted by the unique layout of The Grade II listed Bloomsbury Ballroom, with dual aspect entrance and exits, clear signage and an abundance of space that ultimately rendered the new ‘COVID-conscious’ production possible.
The Ballroom’s management and ground staff have also undergone special training to remain vigilant and attentive of all safety issues, in order to prepare a safe and seamless process for guests during their stay.
Evelina Girling, Creative Producer and CEO of The London Cabaret Club and The Bloomsbury Ballroom says “it is high time that arts and culture is reintroduced to the capital and to the UK as a whole, not least for audiences that have been deprived of live entertainment during the pandemic, but also for the vast swathe of talented and creative individuals who have faced such challenging times of late. Thanks to our exceptionally gifted cast & crew and the unique nature of our venue, we have found a way to carefully recreate the magic of live cabaret in a safe and responsible way, allowing everyone to enjoy this once again. The theme of the show was chosen to reflect resilience in the face of adversity, hence the caption ‘We meet again, London!”
